  1. The IEA ranks Canada second, tied with the United Kingdom, in energy efficiency improvements among 15 countries between 1990 and 2010.

  2. Manitoba’s electricity is made from more than 98% clean, renewable sources.

  3. In 2009, more than 15,000 geothermal heat pumps were installed in homes and businesses across the country.

  4. Canada’s first commercial wind farm, today owned by TransAlta, was installed at Cowley Ridge in Southern Alberta in 1993.
   5.   Canada's largest solar power plant, currently being built in Haldimand County, Ontario, should be               fully operational by 2015. The Grand Renewable Energy Park will have 100 MW of solar power and               150 MW of wind power. That is enough to power 13,750 homes.
  
   6.    Canada is the third largest producer of hydroelectricity in the world.
